Welcome to CruzAlert - Your Emergency Lifeline.
CruzAlert is UC Santa Cruz's emergency notification system, intended to provide critical information rapidly to UCSC students, faculty, and staff during an emergency on campus. The CruzAlert system can deliver voice messages to all phones and text messages to cell phones. The system can also deliver emergency email to UCSC CruzMail accounts.

How CruzAlert Works
CruzAlert is a combination of several integrated systems, and will be expanded as new technologies become available.
Calling System
The CruzAlert calling system allows campus Emergency Management to send messages to all registered phone numbers and e-mail addresses. For students, all emergency contact numbers (local landline and/or cell phone) provided during registration and all campus e-mail addresses are automatically uploaded. For faculty and staff, all campus phone numbers and e-mail addresses are automatically uploaded, and additional phone numbers (cell phones, home phones, etc.) and e-mail addresses (non-campus) can be voluntarily registered.
RSS Feed
The campus maintains an RSS feed that is used to distribute emergency information and update certain websites, including the Emergency Management site and the main campus homepage. Individuals can also subscribe to this feed using most web browsers with built-in RSS feed readers or using stand-along feed readers.
Social Networking Sites
CruzAlert maintains a presence on several social networking sites, and the emergency RSS feed is used to publish information to these sites as well.
Please note that due to the variety of RSS feed reading software used on these sites, there may be delays between when information is published to official campus sites and when it appears on these social networking sites, so these should be considered as secondary sources.
